Alone in the Dark Review

Alone in the Dark

So after house of the dead someone somewhere thought it would be a good idea to let Uwe boll make another movie and two years later we got Alone in the Dark. Could Uwe’s second film venture be better than his first or maybe worse? Well read on to find out

The plot for Alone in the Dark centers around Edward Carnby a paranormal investigator who used to work for a section of the government called bureau 713. Carnby gets pulled back in to help with a new threat which may be linked to events that happened to him as a child.

Ok another Uwe boll flick to review and to tell you the truth it’s not as bad as house of the dead and to some may not be as bad as all the critics have made it out to be. Don’t believe me? Well to bad I’m right and you’re stupid and if that’s not enough then read on.

First off this movie is somewhat of a sequel to the game alone in the dark the new nightmare not in any official since but going by the plot. I’ve read that originally the movie was supposed to come out with alone in the dark 5 but Eden games scraped the project and started from scratch which helps make the movie seem like it’s not following the games at all.

The two main characters are from the game where as in house of the dead we had none. A lot of the plot is taken from the game including the existence of a “dark world” and the fact that light and electricity hurts the monsters and there appearance is similar to the game monster. In the movie they have to close a gate of darkness which has to be done in the game.

The action for the movie is a lot better than house of the dead. For one the guns actually run out of ammo and when bullet time is used it’s done responsible. Remember directors always use bullet time responsible because too much slo-mo can ruin a movie *the more you know (star swipe)*. The moments that are supposed to be scary aren’t and I think it’s due to the fact the monsters are cg when in most cases mainly when it’s only one monster against one or 2 humans it could have been done with practice effects.

The acting isn’t bad for a boll movie with the exception of Tara Reid who in my book is just as useless as Paris Hilton and why she was given a role as an archeologist is beyond me. In fact I’ve read that most scenes with her in it where cut from the movie in the director’s cut version so props to boll for that one.

I ended up seeing this in theaters because until the movie was over I hadn’t realized it was done by boll if I had I would have waited until the DVD but personally I don’t think it was a waste of money for an action movie it’s decent it’s entertaining. The shoot outs offer some pretty cool scenes and with Carnby's increased agility and what not from the experiments it allows for suspension of disbelief.

The killing scenes are pretty good nothing horrible but nothing spectacular just your basic quadruped’s monster eats human and later we get 28 days later type zombies except they all seem to be like Spiderman and can jump around like crazy.
This is one of those movies that I’ve herd people say it has no plot witch frankly is a comment I never understood. No the plots not super deep or anything. I mean I could understand if they said little plot meaning that there was more action and fight scenes then plot development but I’m pretty sure it’s impossible for a movie to have no plot because for that it would have to be nothing but a collection of action sequences with no dialog.

There is something that was simply amazing about this movie and that’s the soundtrack. The sound track for this movie was great it was the first time I heard night wish but it has a huge collection of some of the greatest metal bands including Lacuna coil, arch enemy, fear factory, in flames, shadows fall and dimmu borgir plus a bunch others.

Overall the movie isn’t as bad as people make it out to be I think it gets a bad time because boll is attached to it it isentt the greatest but it is entertaining

How I would do it. Well there’s not much to be said here I haven’t played enough of the games to make an educated statement but I think I would have used practical effects instead of cg for the monsters and tried to make it scarier.

Overall the movie gets 5 out if 10 back flip bullet dodges. It was decent the action was ok and it wasn’t as bad as house of the dead.

The acting gets 5 out of 10 as well. Christian Slater and Stephen Dorff give decent performances but Tara Reid is horrible.

The plot gets 6 out of 10 it doesn’t follow any of the games specifically but had Eden games not changed part 5 it may have been different and it does seem like a sequel to one of the games.

And the content gets 5 out of 10. A few characters a few monsters and a few plot elements from the games are used but just like resident evil they turned a survival horror game into an action movie.

ok so I think I’m getting used to this new format and I’m liking how its working for me I’d like some feedback from anyone that’s actually reading this. Up next is doom then its right back to boll with blood Rayne. As of right now we are about half way through all the live Acton video game movies that are out there are three coming out this year and I plan on seeing all of them including the Chun-Li movie that comes out this Friday but my hope is by the end of the year if not sooner I will be caught up and able to do the reviews as the movies come out and there’s already 3 coming up in 2010 including Bioshock and prince of Persia.

power rangers

POWER RANGERS
A RETROSPECTIVE LOOK AT AMERICAN SENTAI

When the words power rangers are uttered back to back what do we think of. Most people think of cheesy special effects bad acting and rainbow colored spandex. Now granted this is what a lot of the Power Rangers have to offer but I believe beneath the layers of crap is an entertaining show. I say entertaining because that’s all it is I try to watch power rangers every once and awhile and it’s not for the plot it’s not for the acting it’s because aspects of the show can be entertaining. Now before I go on I’d like to give you a little bit of history on the show.

Power Rangers first appeared in 1993 and it was a huge hit with kids. Mostly because it was about teens who where super heroes and most kids at one point in their life want to be a super hero. The show had some pretty decent action for a live action kid’s show and physical comedy jokes that kids like and for the most part had some decent moral lessons attached to the episodes such as treat your friends right don’t be greedy stuff like that. What not a lot of people know now and even less people knew then is that the power ranger’s show we got is actually a sort of remake of a series already established in Japan. The American version we got was American actors while the teens where in human form and then we got the Japanese action scenes when they were in ranger form and in the zoids.

All the changes the rangers underwent over the years coincided with the Japanese footage. The adding of rangers, color changes, zord changes, costume changes all come from when the Japanese show changes something. Now whats interesting is originally they tried to link all the transitions and for a kid some of the plot was pretty cool. I remember when the rangers got the thunder zord's there comand center or home base was destroyed and they where without powers. For a kid whose like 10 11 that’s pretty deep. But after power rangers in space they stopped linking them and just did individuale series.

As far as I am concerned and I have spoken to a few people that feel the same. Power rangers when we were kids was good because we where kids and we still like it now because of our memories and we like the new ones because believe it or not the action is pretty decent for what it is. This brings me to my next point the action. There are three things that have really never changed one is the over the top explosions two is the most of the time cg lasers and three is giant robots. However what does change and for the better is the fighting both while in human and ranger form.

Now in the original series there were a few kung-fu esque fight scenes. And what I mean by this because all fight scenes where martial arts related. Is that the scenes had moves you would see in Jet Li and Donny yen movies. I remember one fight where Kimberly the pink ranger had a group of putty’s witch where the drones the main bad guy used in front of her so she jumps into the air and proceeds to run across the shoulders of the group of enemies which is a move Tony Jaa used in Ong Bak. Granted this was Japanese footage and its nothing to brag about as far as why to watch the show but its scenes like this that have gotten better over the years. Before I go on I’d like to point out that to fully enjoy the action takes a little bit of knowledge and a lot of suspended disbelief.

You need to know that the budget of the show didn’t allow for the best special effects and some things suffered for it. There outfits which are always spandex tights where suposed to be armor like a bendable metal alloy type thing. The crappy plastic swords where obviously supposed to be metal like there real world counterparts. The zord’s witch where like the Godzilla costumes where suposed to be giant robots now with all that in mind I’ll give you an example of a common scene seen over and over throughout the years.

First the rangers do some martial arts and kick the monster around or shoot at it and get beat up themselves either way it ends with the monster being weak enough that they could finish it off. More often than not to do this they would use their ultimate weapon which consisted of them combining there individuale weapons to form a giant cannon. How it played out you would see the rangers jumping around like fools getting slashed and tiny sparkler explosions going off their suits getting blackened and then a pretty simplistic cg laser beam followed by a giant explosion all of which seemed pretty cheesy. Now if you where watching the same scene with the right amount of suspended disbelief you would see five super powered warriors in special armor fighting a monster there weapons clashing as the monster uses its razor sharp claws witch damage the armor then when the monster is finally weak enough the rangers combine their weapons to form their ultimate weapon after focusing their energy into the cannon they unleash it and the beam of energy is so powerful it cuts the monster in half and the resulting overload of energy causes an explosion. The best way for me to put it into perspective is to compare it to anime.

If the same thing had been in an anime the rangers costumes would be easily scene as metal they would be flying all around running on walls making 30 foot jumps and when hit would fly back into walls causing them to explode and when the final blast came it would be as huge as a kamahamaha wave. And as the show progressed through the years we got closer and closer to this. Recently while watching one of the newer seasons there was a fight scene that I swear was straight out of anime. The ranger and the monster where fighting one on one and the monster had the upper hand then after a super charged jump kick that created a wave of energy delivered by the ranger the monster hit him with a punch that sent him flying.\

In the original series when this happened the screamed ahhh and jumped out of the way of the camera. But in this instance the ranger was lifted off screen I’m assuming by wires then when the cut back to him he had landed in gravel rolling a few times then getting to his feet and skidding to a stop just like in anime. Then the monster landed creating a small crater and they continued their fight. However I was then treated to a scene I never thought I’d see in power rangers the monster went to attack him and the ranger bended backwards putting the sword tip into the ground then used it to propel himself up and over the monster slashing it while in the air then landing on the other side all one continues shot no cut away so all down with wires. And the show keeps going and keeps improving the action scenes.
There have been space rangers, car rangers, two types of ninja rangers, alien rangers, dinosaur related rangers, forest animal related rangers, magic related rangers and the list keeps going.

There where after a while a few fan service episodes one was during the wild force season which had an episode entitled forever red which had the nine previous red rangers join the wild force red ranger to fight monsters trying to resurrect a zord used by lord zed which was one of the original rangers enemies. Another is during the dinosaur thunder season Tommy made a return and led this new group of rangers and during one episode he told a story that linked every season of rangers up until then.

I would also consider the dinosaur thunder season one of the best not only did it have the return of Tommy but there was an episode where Tommy was in a coma and had to fight all his other forms to regain his power which means the white ranger the green ranger and his version of the red ranger. Also there was an episode where he rangers sat down to watch a new satellite channel and through the channel they showed a full episode of the Japanese version of the dinosaur rangers which was neat to say the least.

Also around the time of wild force the seasons started having team up episode arcs where the previous seasons rangers would join up to help the new season’s rangers witch I also consider pretty cool. And some of the newer seasons started doing what we always hoped the original series would do and that’s have the generals of the main bad guy actually fight the rangers. Usually these generals would have ranger like armor themselves or be bad rangers witch aloud for more plot related fights using martial arts instead of the rangers jumping around a guy in a rubber suit. Get ready here comes another segway.

Godzilla movies are great for there cheesy rubber suits and funny monsters power rangers does this just as good as the older Godzilla movies when the rangers get into the zord’s we get a rubber monster and we get another rubber monster that is supposed to be a giant mech so if it’s ok for Godzilla to be cheesy and I have recently watched the newest Godzilla movies and it’s still rubber suits and still cheesy but still entertaining.

Bye now your all probably saying Jason all this info on power rangers is ok but what about the other American Sentai shows your paper is supposed to be about all American Sentai not just rangers and id say to you hey chill the fuck out I’m getting to it. There were a number of shows that came after power rangers that tried to play off the popularity of the show some lasted a season some lasted two and only a few lasted more than that what where those shows you ask well let me get right too it.

The first Sentai show after power rangers was we are we are V.R. troopers sorry I couldn’t resist. Anyway V.R. troopers and the rest of the shows on the list just like power rangers it used American actors and Japanese stock action footage from a Sentai show. It got almost as popular as power rangers but quickly died out from lack of footage for the action scenes because it used so much of it. Which is funny because V.R. troopers used footage from three different shows. Saban got the technique from Americanized anime like robotech and voltron. With the end of V.R. troopers we got a new show.

Big bad beetleborgs took over for V.R. troopers after its stock footage ran out. The one difference from the rest of the Sentai shows is that instead of teenagers it was younger kids about 10-12 which may have attested to its popularity. There was a group of monsters that where the reasons the kids had their powers and the reason the bad guys where in our world, fucking monsters. Anyway they where the comic relief of the show.

Up next we have masked rider. Masked rider as based on the very popular kamen rider series of Japan. Masked rider was different in the fact that there was only one hero not a team. Masked rider actually had some controversy because of the fact that the stock action footage used for the show was so obviously Japanese there’s even times when you can tell there are two different suits for the same hero.

The next show on our journey is superhuman samurai syber squad. This shows theme were computers and viruses with the heroes going into computers to fight mega viruses. This show also used stock footage for the fights the formula for the show was slightly different where the main hero played oddly enough by Matthew Laurence would enter syber space (cyber) and take on an ultraman esque form then his team would pilot robots that would attach to him giving him different weapons and armor. It also had the edge theme where the heroes where all in a rock band man that’s extreme.

The last two shows I want to mention have one thing different from all the other shows and that’s the fact that all footage action and otherwise is all American there was no stock footage from Japan.

The first of these shows was done by saban the people that brought you power rangers and was a fantasy show based on Irish mythology that show was The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. It was pretty decent considering and the Irish mythology gave it a nice twist it lasted for 37 episodes according to imdb and 50 according to Wikipedia.

The second series was not so popular it was Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills besides being all American footage it also has the longest name of any American Sentai show ever. There were a few differences from all other Sentai shows that made it interesting. The first is the group where not really friends and had some trouble getting along.

There was also an episode where one of the heroes reviled herself to her mom and she was sent to a psychiatrist. One thing I liked was to get to their base was they had to go under a table at a local coffee shop witch made for a few funny moments. Also people actually realized they were missing insted of just accepting it.

Well that concludes the journey through American Sentai as it stands power rangers is the only Sentai show that is still going and airing today. The only full Japanese show to ever make it over to us TV was a few different versions of ultraman and would be dubbed over. I’d also like to include a few fun facts.

Tommy aka Jason David Frank is the only Sentai actor that actually studies martial arts and has a dojo in California. Kimberly aka Amy Jo Johnson had gymnastics training. In power rangers lost galaxy the actress that played the yellow ranger also appeared completely nude in not another teen movie and is the only ranger actress to do so. So that is it I hope you have enjoyed this and will give you a new outlook on American Sentai.

Resident Evil Apocalypse review

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Two years after the first resident evil we get its sequel but can more action more game characters and a new director make a better film we will find out. Also after some feedback from a friend I’m going to try a slightly new format the plot summary will be smaller and hopefully the review more beefy.

The second resident evil opens exactly where the first one ended and now the virus has taken over the town. During the course of the movie Alice finds a group of survivors has to rescue an umbrellas scientist’s daughter fight a super zombie named nemesis and escape the city before it is blown to bits. She also finds out that she has been injected with a mutated t-virus which makes her faster and stronger.

This movie definitely has more things linking it to the game then the first but unfortunately like the games, has decided to go the action route instead of the horror route which made the games famous. The atmosphere is creepy up until the point Alice throws a motorcycle at a licker then shoots it making it explode.

As a plus we get more locations and characters from the game including Carlos, Jill, Nicolai, and of course nemesis who has his trade mark weapons. We get a graveyard scene which is like the game. There’s a scene where a group of people are fighting off a group of zombies and one reflects off a fallen police helmet and this is like the intro to resident evil 3.

The scientist that has Alice find his daughter lasts name is Ashford witch are the founders of umbrella in the games. There is one amusing line where Jill says she feels that Ashford is just watching them like it is a sick game. At the beginning of the movie Alice is in a gun shop which is sort of like in resident evil 2.

The acting is ok for the most part but the movie is so over the top with action that it doesn’t have a horror feel to it at all and why on gods earth would you go through a cemetery during a zombie attack then instead of shooting they use hand to hand it just seems silly. As do a lot of the action scenes.

Ultimately the movie fails to capture the spirit of the game and dumped the one thing the first movie had going for it witch was the atmosphere. Angela who is Ashford’s daughter is sort of like Sherry Berkin in the since they both are dressed the same and need to be saved. And of course the end when they blow up raccoon city with a nuke is just like the game.

Nemesis looked ok but they went with a human rubber suit instead of cg and it shows just like the thing in fantastic four. I’m a big fan of practical effects but nemesis I think would have benefited from a bit of cg. The over the top action comes to a close when Alice awakes after the nuke and has psychic powers.

so how would I do it well I would of kept more of a creepy atmosphere and probably would have kept the location to the police station from 2 and maybe then mixed in outside in raccoon city from 3. And I would have used Leon as a character.

Overall I give the movie 5 out of 10 exploding motor cycles the acting was nothing to complain about but the action while entertain at points was over the top and should not have been the focus of the film.

The acting gets a 7 out of 10 Mila was good as Alice again everyone else was ok and nothing to really complain about.

The plot gets 4 out of 10 it had a lot more to do with the game then the first one and the ending was the same as one of the games.

Content gets 6 out of 10 there where actual game characters this time and they had nemesis which was cool.

Ok so another one done next up is the second Uwe boll movie and it stars none other than that great well of acting talent known as Christian Slater.

top ten games to movies

Top ten video games
That need movie adaptations

Ok so this top ten list will be of the games I think need to be turned into movies the games eligible for the list or games that either have no movie coming up in the for seeable future or games with movies that sucked (in my opinion not yours)

10. Elder scroll series. It’s my belief that the best candidates for movie adaptations are games with a broad universe witch wouldn’t require a direct retelling of a specific story to make and the elder scroll series is a great example of that. All you would need for a good elder scrolls movie is the monsters, the races, and the places from the games and maybe a few armor and weapon recreations and you could go all wily nilly with the story and it would still be good.

9. Castlevania. Older games make good movies because for the most part the plots where not that involved. In the original Castlevania games the plot was simple man hunts vampire man kills vampire in the next game man finds out he killed vampire wrong and needs to bring him back to kill him again. That leaves a lot of leeway to play around with the middle. To be a good movie all you would need is a guy named Simon killing monsters with a whip and eventually fighting Dracula. The hard core fans would probably demand a retelling of symphony of the night but that has a more direct plot and Hollywood would fuck it up.

8. God of war series. With its interesting take on Greek mythology and its badass main character god of war would be a great choice for an action movie series. Unfortunately I foresee a lot of cg being used in some of Kratos’s more extravagant fights like against the hydra. But with a little open mindedness from fans and omitting some of the puzzles Krato's has to solve the movies could be great.

7. Onimusha series. Great story great action lots of blood and a few tense moments the games are practically movies as it is I mean they already used real actors for the faces and voices and in this case they are actually good actors. Takeshi Kaneshiro (Samanosuke) and Jean Reno (Jacques) are no strangers to action and if they omitted the practically unrelated Onimusha 2 you could have a good series of action flicks.

6. Duke Nukem. There would be a few conditions this movie would have to meet to be good. First it would have to keep the humor and catch phrases from the games and second the actor would have to fit the physique of duke. This is another series that has a big enough universe that they could pretty much do any story they wanted as long as the spirit of the games where there.

5. Metroid. This is another movie that would need a new story written for it for 2 reasons first the original game has no conversation in it at all and even the newer games don’t have anyone for Samus to interact with and second the original plot is kind of empty anyway Samus shows up kills monsters and blows up a brain in a jar not do much depth there. I would suggest using the planets her suit and weapons of course the metroid's and then take liberties I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed the space pirates from giant animal like monsters to humanoid mutants and the same with mother brain and of course for those who don’t know I wouldn’t let the audience know Samus was a girl until the end recreating that memorable moment where she takes off her helmet and her hair flocks in the wind.

4. Ninja Gaiden. Who doesn’t love ninjas well I certainly do and who’s the most badass ninja to ever hit any console ever? No it’s not Joe Musashi from the shinobi games it’s Ryu Hyabusa from the Ninja Gaiden series. With the two newer Ninja Gaiden games out, there’s plenty of story to pick from and again this is the kind of universe that’s large enough to make up an original story as long as you guessed it the spirit of the games are there. I think just for fun they should figure out a way to make the movie hard to watch. Also the Ryu from the dead or alive movies does not count even though it’s the same character it’s a different universe.
Well you have read the rest now on to the best the top 3 video games that need movies made from them.

3. Metal gear series. These games have a few advantages in the race for other games that should be movies. For one the voice actor for snake, David Haytar also writes screenplays (x-men movies) and has done live action movies (Guyver 2: dark hero) so he would be perfect for snake and could help write the script also Hidoe Kojima is a genius and could help with the creative process. I’m assuming the metal gear solid stories would be used at least they would be a fool if they didn’t but if they were afraid of pissing off fans they could do an original story but the problem there is with original story comes original characters and that means no Otocon yelling snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake.

2. Halo. With a rich story spanning 3 books, an audio play and three great games halo is perfect for a Sci-Fi epic. The story is simple enough that they wouldn’t have to change it much to fit Hollywood standards and with 3 games you’ve got an easy trilogy deal. You never see master chiefs face so they could do the Darth Vader thing with a stunt actor playing the body and a voice actor doing the voice I suggest the original voice actor. Cortana is begging for a cg part so you can use her voice actress as well. And the marines just don’t matter but I would hope they could find a part for Lee Harvey Ermy.

1. Legend of Zelda. With halo being number 2 you had to know number one was going to be big and it doesn’t get much bigger then Zelda. If IGN's April fool’s joke for 2008 has taught us anything it’s that internet nerds are easily tricked and if its taught us anything else it’s that a Zelda movie that looks good could be great and accurate. The Zelda games always seemed to come in twos when it game to sequels. We had legend of Zelda and adventures of link. We got the SNES legend of Zelda and the game boy counterpart. We got ocarina of time and majora's mask. So with no real timeline to follow it leaves the story open to toy around with all you need is a kidnapped princess a bad guy named Gannon and a little elf like boy or teen named link.

The fake trailer made it seem like it was based on ocarina of time and I think that’s a great approach but there’s also a hell of a lot of castles and dungeons that link has to go through in those games. So again like most of the games on this list using the rich universe created by the games I would suggest an original story because if they try to remake one already there they will screw it up.

Well that about wraps it up I hope you enjoyed reading this list as much as I enjoyed writing it and I’d love to here anyone’s thoughts on it.

House of the Dead review

House of the Dead
Well I don’t know if anyone has been waiting to read this but I have sure as hell been waiting to write it. This is why I kind of just phoned in the last one.

House of the dead was the first movie made by infamous director Uwe boll. Since then he has directed some of the worst and one of the best video game movies. I skipped seeing this in theaters because the previews made it look like it was just silly but being a fan of cheese I rented it and oh boy was it bad so let’s get right to it.

The story of house of the dead is about a group of kids who hire a smuggler to take them to the Isla de Muerta where the biggest rave of the year is supposed to be happing. As the movie goes on we find out that zombies have killed all the ravers. So after a short time the kids are attacked by zombies and they have to fight them off.

Eventually they make their way back to the boat and arm themselves with guns that the boat guy was smuggling also the police show up and they also have guns. Many shootouts happen and eventually the surviving kids make their way to what they think is an abandoned house. Inside more kids die and the big plot twist is reviled it was a former Spanish priest who was captured.

Apparently when the priest escaped he killed everyone on the boat he was on from here he devolved the blood shade which turns corpses into zombies eventually one of the characters kills him and she is then rescued by special agents and is the only survivor.

Ok now that that is over its time for the actual review. First I’d like to say I don’t hate Uwe boll all the time just most of the time and I don’t hate cheesy movies either I love watching b-movies every once and a while but when you combine bad acting bad writing horrible plot I can’t help but hate a movie.

What I can do however is point out what did work which is minimal and what didn’t which was a lot. First it seems no matter how much he ruins a movie Uwe boll does like to have throw backs to the games he basing his movies off of and house of the dead is no exception. Right from the get go we get scenes from the game thrown into the title screens which is cool but quickly becomes annoying when it continues throughout the movie. During the opening rave scene there is the Sega logo everywhere and the creator of the game and the president of Sega of America make cameos as zombies.

The gore throughout the movie is pretty much what you would expect from a b-movie and I love gore so that worked for me especially when one of the kids gets torn in half. What didn’t really work for me was the fact that these kids who were ready to party and do drugs one minute are suddenly expert marksmen as soon as you put a gun in their hand not to mention no one reloaded ever. I think the boat captain was using a desert eagle and fired like 15 rounds as far as I know the gun holds 9.

Then there were the special effects for like 5 to 10 minutes we get a scene of each character holding a gun and the camera spinning around them. I’ll say this now and hopefully never have to repeat it. It was cool in the matrix then it got over used and even when it’s over used in other movies at least it’s used to show something cool like a kick or bullet or something but here we get nothing but pointing.

In the next scene we get a bullet time shotgun spray but it’s too little to late it was neat to see the pellets in bullet time but after the camera spin scene I just didn’t care. The kids being experts at shooting isn’t the only stretch in the movie either. The one Asian girl all of a sudden is great at kung fu and because she took a few fencing lessons the only survivor is able to beat a man much stronger then her in sword fighting.

As far as it is based on a game besides the title and zombies there’s not much linking it to the game. There’s the last name of the main bad guy is the same as the bad guy from the first and third game, at the end of the movie two guys in trench coats come out of the helicopter and one is referred to as g which is the name of one of the characters from the game and there’s guns but that’s really it.

The acting is about what you would expect from a b-movie sometimes worse. Honestly I wouldn’t be mad at Uwe boll if he was just the director but most of his movies he’s the writer too so sometimes especially with this one it seems like he’s trying to ruin the idea of the game on purpose. Some people have called him the Ed wood of our time but I don’t know if that’s entirely accurate but they both do make cheesy movies.

And now for the triumphant return of how I’d do it. First this would never have been on the top of my list for games to be movies. But if I was going to I would at the very least have the two characters from the game and id do what resident evil didn’t id have Romero direct it so it would be good and then id include monster types from the games and maybe just as a fun little thing I’d have some sort of future gun that reloaded when you pointed it away from the target and pulled the trigger.

Overall I would give the movie 2 out of 10 light guns the gore was ok but everything else was bad real bad

Acting gets 2 out of 10 I’ve seen b-movies with good acting and bad acting but this is some of the worst I’ve ever seen with the exception of the main bad guy he was slightly less worse

Plot gets a 1 out of 10 besides zombies this was nothing like the game.

Content gets 2 out of 10 only reason it didn’t get a 1 was there where enough references to save it from complete crappyness and obscurity when it comes to the game.

Ok well that does it for the first boll movie there are more out there and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to stop but to your surprise there are a few that are not bad and at least one that’s great so I’ll see you next time. Up next is the second resident evil movie witch actually has characters from the game and then it’s on to bolls second movie alone in the dark.

lara croft tomb raider the cradle of life

Tomb Raider the Cradle of Life
Ok so there’s not much new to say about the second tomb raider so I’m going to be quick so I can get right into the house of the dead review.

The second tomb raider starts with an earth quake that reveals a hidden temple under the waters. Lara takes a crew with her and they turn on her and steal an orb she finds there. Mi6 shows up and tells Lara that an evil scientist wants to use the orb to find Pandora’s Box which is hidden in the cradle of life.

Lara tells mi6 she will help as long as she can have access to anyone she wants. Lara enlists the help of terry a former marine and mercenary mi 6 gets him out of prison and they begin their adventure. First up is Hong Kong where Lara and terry meet with a gangster called Chen Lo. They eventually find out where the orb is and use sounds to find the cradle of life which is in Africa. The evil scientist then captures Bryce (Lara's tech friend) and Hillary (Lara’s butler).

Lara and terry split up and meet again in Africa. There Reiss (the evil scientist) shows up and tells Lara that if she doesn’t help him find the cradle of life he will kill her friends. Lara and her African friends and Reiss’s men head to the cradle of life.

Inside they encounter a dark forest with demons that kill once they since movement. Lara uses the opportunity to get away from Reiss and he quickly follows her. Terry shows up and frees the captives and Reiss ends up in a pool of black acid that holds Pandora’s Box. Terry wants to take the box as a payment but Lara says no and has to kill them then leaves the box and the movie ends.

Ok so like I said at the start there’s not much more to say about the movie that I didn’t already say about the first. The sequel still has the feel of the games and the story is still like one of the games. I do feel that this movie tried a little too hard with its action but overall it was still entertaining.

Honestly that’s all I can really say so I guess it’s onto the scores.

So I’m just going to be lazy here and this movie gets the same scores as the first one.

Well I’m sorry you had to live through that but next up is one I’ve been waiting to write since I started the house of the dead review oh boy am I going to tear this movie a new asshole.
