Call of Duty: Frozen Crossing

Modern Warfare: Frozen Crossing

So I’m still waiting for the next movie based on a video game to come out. But for the time being I have found this fan made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 movie. Now it’s only 7 minutes long but it’s still based on a video game and I’m bored. So let’s dig in.

The plot focuses on Soap and Ghost now with new call signs Dust and Specter. Their mission is to rescue a captured operative. Along the way the duo deal with enemies soldiers and a very well armed sniper.

So being fan made I’m not surprised at how close to the game this short film is. The way Dust and Specter interact and even their dialog feel like they were taken right out of the game. For costing only about two hundred dollars the special effects and props look very good. If I had to guess id the say the weapons are air soft guns but I’m not positive.

In the short running time of the film the relationship between Specter and Dust and both characters personalities are developed very well. You get to see how impatient Dust is and how calculated Specter is. Later their high level of skill and teamwork are shown when they run from the Russian soldiers.

The direction and editing are amazing and the overall film quality is fantastic much better than most straight to DVD movies and if feature length then you wouldn’t even know it was filmed for under two hundred dollars.

The weapons look like the ones from the game and Specter even calls in a predator missile at the end and if you got really nerdy you could probably name perks each character was using. There is also a mission over view intro screen just like in the games and Specter/Ghost has his trade mark mask with the skull.
After reading tons of comments on the video I found only two that kept coming up.

The first was that a lot of people felt the sniping was inaccurate because the bullet should hit before it makes a sound sense the round is supersonic. To that I say oh well even the big budget action movies make mistakes like that and a lot worse ones like how many bullets come in a clip.

The second was comments about Dust eating snow at the end. Some people thought that it was to show his fun loving nature but I’ve herd two other tactical reasons. The first is because he’s thirsty and the snow will melt into water. This makes sense because specter says right after don’t you have a canteen. The second is because he was running and doesn’t have a face covering like Specter he’s eating it to lower his temperature so he doesn’t breathe steam.

Overall it’s very fun to watch and there is a promise of a second part at the end which I can’t wait for. I won’t do scores because I’ll just end up repeating myself but it gets a 10 in every category easy. If Hollywood made adaptations like this then fans would rarely be disappointed. Well if you don’t believe me here’s the YouTube link so you can judge for yourself.
